The Process
First, we get to know the student personally, their interests, strengths, experiences, and aspirations, through interviews, assessments and lots of conversations. Respect and trust are fundamental to this process. We advise the student on how to make the most of their high school experience, identifying academic gaps, extracurricular activities that may be of interest, community service and summer enrichment opportunities. A student admissions profile is developed, clarifying who the student is, what their goals are, and what types of institutions are most appropriate and appealing. Together, Maria Badami and the student conduct extensive research on targeted colleges, resulting in a comprehensive college list, an application strategy and a timeline. Maria coaches students on what to look for on college visits, and prepares them for interviews. A resume is developed. She brainstorms with students on essay topics and edits essays. All application materials are proofed and double checked for accuracy. Lastly, College Directions of CNY helps students select the best college they are admitted. |
